1st Giveaway I Ever Won: MAC's Venomous Villain Collection, via Karla Sugar!

 Ok, today I am going to write about the REAL reason I got into makeup. I know I wrote a weird rambling intro post, but that was mostly just a placeholder. (It is also the product of an unsound mind amplified by insomnia and a little eetsy-bitsy amount of wine.) 'Tis a rather convoluted story, but follow me into its twisting folds for I promise it shall be an epic journey most wonderful and strange! ... or something like that.

I can't remember which magazine the source fashion ad came from, but it was in Vogue.

So this has absolutely nothing to do with makeup, but I figure fashion is aligned closely enough with makeup. I love drawing and I really love doing fashion illustration in particular. I wish I still had my scanner because I like to do the sketches by hand and then color in with a graphic program on my tablet, but I'm kind of short on cash right now (which should rightfully stop me from buying makeup, but a lipstick is so much cheaper... except that it adds up. Le sigh.)

E.L.F Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 Review (super budget buy!)

So I'm sure you guys have all heard about the budget beauty brand E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Faces) and know a ton about their products already, but I feel like this here tinted moisturizer is a frequently missed gem that doesn't get enough love. I mean, tinted moisturizers can get really expensive, right? I've never tried the seminal Laura Mercier one though I keep hearing about it, and I have no intention to in the near future either because I feel like I could just mix foundation with moisturizer and be done with it.

Enter ELF's one dollar--that's right, you heard me right, one weeny dollar!--tinted moisturizer, and despite my general misgivings about tinted moisturizers in general, I ordered some from the web site because it had fair reviews and I had nothing to lose at the price (all E.L.F. Essential products are a dollar each; the Studio line costs $3 each; Mineral line is more expensive.)

After consulting Temptalia's Foundation Matrix as to what shade I would be, I chose three different shades close to my MAC skin tone (NC20-30,) and kind of forgot about it until my order arrived. After all, I didn't have high hopes for something that just cost a buck, when all the other contenders cost way more and still seemed to underperform.

Mah First Ever Make Up Review Post! Tokidoki Robbery Set: The Royal Pride Palette

Whew! It's been what, 10 years since I first opened the blog and did the layout and everything, and my first product review post (and really, it could be considered my first for-real post since the "first post" I wrote was just a nonsensical ramble about my foray into make up addiction) is ready and raring to GO!

So recently I've been doing a lot of job hunting and have landed one internship. I would like to get another internship, preferably a paid one this time since the other is unpaid as well as part-time--or, barring that, get a retail position because my fund is bound to run out sooner or later (sooner, considering how much make up I'm hauling in to nom-nom on on a bi-weekly basis.) What this amounts to is that I've been very, very busy since I first got the idea to open me humble blog-pub and hence why it's taken so long to actually get around to writing this post! So there it is, my excuse. ;-P

Anyhoo, without any further ado, I introduce to you the very first subject of my mighty scientific investigation into the world of cosmetic wonders: The Royal Pride set from the Tokidoki Robbery Palette, sold at Sephora exclusively. (Currently priced at $39, on sale; former price was $49.)

And So It Begins: The Jean Ski Moo Budget-Busting Beauty Chronicles

Pre-amble: 

I'm crazy. I know it. I write crazy things! :-) Consider it a lovely quirk of mine. Or not. I just like writing crazy and have these weird images stuck in my head. I shall probably update this with drawings and artwork or maybe even a comic. Compound the madness! 

... And on the eighth day, God created lipstick. Or eyeliner, or mascara, or foundation, or what have you. You know, whatever, just go with your own cosmetic beliefs; we can all choose to worship at our own altars, be it MAC, Guerlain, Chanel, Revlon, etc. The only important, and indisputable thing is that It had begun.

It; the Flood. Because from then on, Lipstick begat Lipgloss begat Lipstain begat... Oh, you get the point. And so on and on it went until God saw and said everything was good.
